Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction

Throughout the year, Dr. Eddie Berinstein regularly offers workshops in MBSR at Cascadia Centre in Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast of BC. Call our contact number for information on the next upcoming fall weekend workshop.

Women’s Mindfulness and Intimacy, Sept. 24-26

Once again, Cascadia welcomes the Women’s Mindfulness and Intimacy Retreat with Nancy Mortifee, assisted by Carol Sill.

The weekend residential workshop this fall gives an opportunity to explore deeply and welcome the engagement of our authentic selves.

What women say about Nancy’s workshops:

“I can truly say it exceeded all my expectations and was a much needed tonic at this time of challenge and crossroads in my life.”

“….it was your exercises and the entire experience that allowed me to come clean and flush all of my pain and fears. I truly feel a new freedom, a new energy has taken over my heart. I feel like I have taken my power back.”

“I am still feeling the glow of the work, the intention and loving circle that you created. It really was powerful energy medicine.”

The upcoming September retreat promises to be a deepening of the experience for those of you who attended in June, as well as a new transformative experience if you are attending for the first time.

As always the group size will be small to insure an intimate experience.

What is Mindfulness? Mindfulness is the practice of being present; the moment to moment, non-judgmental awareness of how our thoughts and feelings affect our behaviour.

What is Intimacy? Intimacy is the experience of a vulnerable and caring relationship with oneself or another, involving the feeling, expressing and receiving of authentic emotions.

Weekend Schedule:
Friday, Sept. 24th at 6:30 pm (dinner at 7)
to Sunday, Sept. 26th at 2:30 pm.

Workshop Fee:
$375.00  Includes accommodation, all meals, snacks,

Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction, Nov.5-7

Weekend Workshop with Dr. Eddie Berinstein, November 5-7, 2010, at Cascadia Centre, Roberts Creek.

Dr. Eddie Berinstein has been practicing Mindfulness and Insight Meditation since 1977 under the guidance of his teacher Anagarika Dhammadinna until her death in 1991. He has attended many Meditation Retreats and has led a Sunday evening meditation group with the Community Schools for many years.

More recently he has attended “Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction – Professional Training” workshops with Jon Kabat-Zinn. Eddie is now teaching MBSR Workshops on the Sunshine Coast and is presently an Instructor with the Center for Mindfulness. He has found that the cultivation of Mindfulness has enhanced all aspects of his physical, emotional and spiritual life, as well as his professional life as a Family Physician.

MBSR was started by Jon Kabat-Zinn in the late 1970’s and has since benefited thousands of people worldwide.

The cultivation of Mindfulness through Meditation Practice allows us to be more present for our moments as they unfold and to embrace the “full catastrophe” of our life in a more harmonious and balanced way. The primary purpose of the workshop is the cultivation of mindfulness into everyday life, thereby using it as a means and a tool to help deal with chronic pain, stress, and illness.

The workshop will consist of both formal and informal mindfulness practices including sitting, walking, loving kindness, and bodyscan meditation. There will be group dialogue and interaction as well as some guided body movement.

Ann Mortifee Recommends….

Ann Mortifee and Nancy Fischer Mortifee

Some great words from Ann Mortifee about the upcoming workshop at Cascadia:

I want to endorse the Women’s Mindfulness and Intimacy Retreat, led by Nancy Mortifee and her workshop partner, Carol Sill. When women come together with time to reflect and share and with an intention to heal and grow, miracles can happen. Both Nancy and Carol have long been on the journey that leads to a deeper understanding of self. They are women of love, integrity and warmth. Time spent with them can only lead to greater inner freedom and joy. I feel excited when I imagine all that will transpire as women gather with them to travel deeper. Ann Mortifee
