Judy Shanley

Judy is a Reiki Master/Teacher, Workshop and Retreat Facilitator, Intuitive Energy Worker and Recreation Programmer.

Judy was born and raised in Australia before travelling to Vancouver in her early twenties. During her early years Judy developed a passion for nature and the outdoors, and quickly discovered the sense of peace and belonging one finds there.

It was while visiting family in Australia during the mid 1990′s Judy discovered Reiki…and noticed the profound support it offers to one’s emotional balance.

Shortly afterwards, and back in Vancouver, Judy sought a Reiki teacher from which to study, and quickly completed Levels I & II. Initiation into Reiki opened the door to Judy’s spiritual journey and subsequent personal healing.

In 2000 Judy was guided to study under the late Christopher Humble of White Rock, BC. In 2001 Judy became a Reiki Master/Teacher in the Usui tradition. Judy teaches and practices a heart-centered and  intuitive style of Reiki. Her gentle teachings are guided by spirit and inspire a sense of empowerment, strengthening of one’s vitality, and discovery of one’s potential.

Through Reiki Judy had discovered the same sense of peace and belonging she had long ago found in nature. Judy believes nature offers a direct connection to our inner stillness, a gateway to our true nature and our purpose in life. She also believes the combination of inner activities with outer adventures to offer profound teachings. Thus her workshops and retreats combine self-discovery activities with immersion into nature and outdoor adventures. Judy is based in beautiful Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast.

Judy’s work in the recreation field includes two years with Outward Bound Canada, as a Community Programs Coordinator in the Vancouver Office. During this time she designed, developed and facilitated a unique urban program for women who had experienced life traumas – Urban Women of Courage – in partnership with community organizations. This program combined group process work with self-discovery and outdoor adventure activities. Judy continues this work by volunteering her time and skills in the delivery of a monthly program, Women Inspiring Women, at the Roundhouse Arts and Community Centre in Yaletown, Vancouver.

Judy’s studies include Recreation Leadership and Management, Reiki both Usui and Karuna, Meditation, Process Acupressure, Chi Kung, Buddhism, Shamanism.

Judy comes to Cascadia Centre with a desire and offering to experience the feminine principles of collaboration, co-creation, nurturing, communication and community, within a circle of amazing women, for all our potential, and for the highest good of all.
